extremely loud & incredibly close

I feel bad for Oskar. I think he is afraid that his mom will die and he'll be alone in the world with no one (besides his Grandmother, who's likely to die in a few years). On top of that, he gets bullied by Jimmy Snyder at school, and he doesn't seem to have many friends. He is already very alone and mentions death a lot, and asks why life is worth living. I think his quest will fulfill him and make him happier in the end.
